Founded in 1999 by Mario Amoy Eugène Voninahitsy and his wife Achille Djivadjee Raveronirina, two Malagasy entrepreneurs driven by their passion for the sea and the natural wealth of Madagascar, Matata has grown into a symbol of excellence in the country’s vanilla industry.
Specializing in the export of vanilla beans, Matata quickly established itself as Madagascar’s leading exporter in this sector. Its success is built on uncompromising quality standards, deep respect for the environment, and the promotion of local expertise that reflects the authentic Made in Madagascar spirit.
Over the years, the company has expanded significantly, now employing more than 1,000 people who proudly contribute to its growth and to the international reputation of Malagasy vanilla products.
Matata’s excellence and commitment to quality have been recognized globally, earning the company the World Quality Commitment Award twice — first in Geneva in 2005, and again in Paris in 2009.
Driven by a vision of sustainability, Matata practices responsible and environmentally conscious harvesting, actively fighting deforestation and promoting nature conservation to protect the rich biodiversity of the Great Island.
